Clinical Supervision is extremely important for trainees, newly qualified practitioners and more experienced therapists alike. In the interests of both clients and therapists, most professional bodies (e.g. COSCA, BABCP, BPS, HCPC, UKCP, BACP etc.) require members to incorporate regular Clinical Supervision into their clinical practice.
Clinical Supervision is a professional service, rather than a managerial role. It involves finding a fellow practitioner who has sufficient training, knowledge and experience to support you in your work with clients. It involves attending sessions with another practitioner to review your work with clients, discuss professional development and explore personal issues too, if necessary.
